Sporting Focus raises Ј80,000 for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK

Last night, Wednesday 31 May, at Christie’s, a unique art and photography exhibition and auction celebrating the most famous moments and greatest heroes from sporting history raised an incredible £80,000 for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.

Terry O’Neill, who donated an iconic image of Bobby Moore and Franz Beckenbauer, said: “During my career, I’ve had the honour of photographing some outstanding sportspeople including Bobby Moore. I’m delighted that this event provided the perfect opportunity to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.”

RESULTS OF KEY LOTS

  • Heroes of ’66 Wine Cooler, kindly donated by Gaggenau and signed by surviving ’66 England team – £5,500
  • Bobby Moore’s right boot cast in bronze worn at the World Cup Final. Kindly donated by Philip Jackson FRBS FRSA – £3,000
  • VIP trip to Manchester United with Sir Bobby Charlton £3,000
  • Image of Bobby Moore and Franz Beckenbauer taken by Terry O’Neill – £2,000

Stephanie Moore MBE commented: “Sporting Focus is a fantastic event – it was an amazing evening and I’m delighted it raised £80,000 for the charity.

“Every day bowel cancer claims 45 lives in the UK and the money raised will go towards vital research into bowel cancer.”
