Following last year’s success, Cancer Research UK will again bring together images of some of the biggest names in popular music and photography including Bob Marley, Pete Doherty and Paul McCartney for its Sound & Vision 2007 event. The event, of which Sir George Martin is Patron, is a unique music and photography exhibition and auction to be held at Abbey Road Studios.

Sound & Vision 2007 is to be co-hosted by Mica Paris and Sarah Cawood and will showcase exclusive acoustic performances by All Saints, Mica Paris and Skye Edwards. Exhibits set to go under the hammer at the event include a one-off original silkscreen print of Bob Marley – created for the recent Bob Marley Singles Collection album by Kate Gibb and lyrics to the single ‘Yellow’ – handwritten by Chris Martin onto a Parachute LP.

Also featured are Gered Mankowitz’s contact sheets of Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones, a captivating image of Pete Doherty by James Dimmock and one of only two custom-designed pinball machines featured on the cover of The Zuton’s second album ‘Tired of Hanging Around.’ The event hopes to exceed the £130,000 total raised at the previous event in February 2006, when a lithograph donated by Sir George Martin was one of the top lots fetching over £12,000.

Sir George Martin, Patron of Cancer Research UK Sound and Vision 2007 comments: “Last year’s Sound & Vision event was a fantastic success and I’m delighted to be involved in it again this year. A superb selection of unseen photographs, artwork and memorabilia has been donated by some of the leading people in the business and I am confident that this year we’ll raise even more money for Cancer Research UK.”

Other lots include: a photograph of Johnny Burrell by Jill Furmanovsky – signed by the Razorlight frontman himself; limited edition photographs of Paul McCartney, Kate Bush and Mick Jagger by Clive Arrowsmith; shots of Noel & Liam Gallagher by Jason Joyce; and images of Paul Weller and Basement Jaxx by Jude Edington.

Jools Tait, head of special events, Cancer Research UK said: “Last year was a tremendous success and we’re delighted to be holding Sound & Vision at Abbey Road Studios. Some of the biggest names in the world of music, photography, design and art have come together to raise money to beat cancer. The truly iconic works they have donated will raise a significant some to support Cancer Research UK’s pioneering work.”
