Your support is helping to fund the next generation of cancer researchers

The currency of science is information – ideas, discoveries and data. And all these things come from the enterprise and accomplishments of individual people. That’s why we place so much importance on the researchers we fund. We simply won’t beat cancer without them.

This week we’re proud to announce an £11 million investment into some of the brightest minds in cancer research. We’ve awarded seven new investigator awards to talented scientists who impressed us with their potential to become leaders in the fight against cancer.

The money will help each of the scientists to establish or develop their own research groups. The focus of each team will vary – from understanding the basic nuts and bolts of how cells divide to uncovering why cancers become resistant to treatment .But the ultimate goal of every project is to help us beat cancer.

We receive no government funding for our research, so each and every pound donated to us by the public is crucial in our fight against cancer. And we’re making significant progress thanks to this generous support – survival from cancer has doubled over the past 40 years.
