Emma Griffin appointed new Chair of the board for Cancer Research UK’s Catalyst Club

Cancer Research UK announced today that Emma Griffin will be assuming the role of Chair of the Board for Cancer Research UK’s Catalyst Club with immediate effect.

Emma, former partner at Oriel Securities, will be taking over from Dean Atkins who has stepped down as Chair after a successful three years building solid foundations for the campaign and bringing this pioneering initiative to its halfway point. Dean will continue to be involved as Founding Chairman and Catalyst Club board member.

The Catalyst Club is a ground breaking venture to raise £10 million towards cutting-edge research into personalised medicine. The club’s supporters are made up of influential business leaders, community leaders and philanthropists. Their goal is to collectively fund specific projects investigating how cancer genetics can be used to create personalised treatments which will change the way cancer is treated now and in the future. The campaign has raised £4.4 million to date.

Emma is an investment banking professional with 18 years’ experience covering a range of sectors from both a research and corporate finance perspective. At the end of 2012, she decided to leave the City to build a portfolio of business interests including investing in some start-up companies.

As Chair of the Catalyst Club board, Emma will utilise her results-oriented business background as she leads the campaign towards its goal of reaching its £10million target by 2016.

Through investment we are changing the way cancer is treated now and in the future. I could not be more excited to take on the role of Chair for this campaign and I am looking forward to working with the team to deliver on our targets.”
