Cancer Research UK appoints new Trustee and Treasurer

Cancer Research UK announces the appointment of a new Trustee, Andrew Palmer FCA.  He is also appointed Treasurer with immediate effect.

Andrew is a non-executive director of Direct Line Insurance Group Plc and Royal London Group Plc and is Chairman of the Audit Committee at both companies.  From 2004 to 2013 he was Senior Independent Director of SEGRO plc, a leading owner-manager and developer of industrial property.

Andrew previously had a number of senior financial and executive positions in the asset management, insurance and international businesses.  Most recently he was Group Finance Director of Legal & General Group Plc from 2001 to 2009 where he held a number of roles during a career dating back to 1988.

Michael Pragnell, Chairman of Cancer Research UK, said:  “I am delighted to welcome Andrew Palmer to our governing Council.  Andrew’s extensive financial experience will be enormously valuable to the Charity and I am confident he will make a significant contribution as Treasurer.”

Andrew Palmer is also a member of the Financial Reporting Council’s Review Panel, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Trustee of the Royal School of Needlework.

All Trustee roles at Cancer Research UK are unremunerated.
