Sharon and Kelly Osbourne are known for their strong mother and daughter bond and it was made even stronger since both being touched by cancer – Sharon survived colon cancer in 2002 and then underwent a double mastectomy in 2012 after being diagnosed with the BRCA1 gene, which Kelly recently announced she also had. Joining the fight against cancer, the duo have now come together to ask women across the UK to sign up to Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

“I’m asking every woman – mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and auntie, in the UK to step forward and unite together to defy cancer. Let’s show cancer that hell hath no fury like a woman in pink.” – Sharon Osbourne

Sharon and Kelly, said it was laughter that helped them get through Sharon’s battle with colon cancer and the pair showed their well-known sense of humour again as they played around in a photo booth, brandishing pink army helmets, war paint and warrior headdresses.

The famous twosome are encouraging women of all ages, shapes and sizes, to get together and join the Race for Life Pink Army and raise vital funds to help beat cancer sooner.

Sharon said: “I’m honoured to be supporting Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life this year. As a cancer survivor myself, I know it takes all your strength and the support of your family and friends to overcome this disease.

Kelly said: “After watching my mum go through colon cancer and the recent news that I’m carrying the BRCA1 gene, just like my mum, I wanted to show my support for Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. By signing up to your local Race for Life event, every pound you raise will help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. So whether you walk, jog or charge, let’s unite against cancer so we can one day end the suffering cancer causes millions of people around the world.”

Cancer Research UK is urging all women to stand with Sharon and Kelly by signing up to take part in the Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco. All funds raised will go towards beating over 200 different types of cancer.

Women can take part in 5K, 10K and Pretty Muddy events, with over 300 events taking place nationwide this summer.
