Peter Andre hits the road to help beat cancer

Peter Andre visited nurses aboard the London Cancer Awareness Roadshow, to see the vital work funded by Cancer Research UK’s Peter Andre Fund.

Peter has been raising money for the London-based Roadshow since he set up his Fund in 2013. After losing his brother to cancer, Peter decided to partner with Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity, in its mission to save more lives from the disease.

The Cancer Awareness Roadshow travels around the city bringing information about cancer to people in their own communities. Visitors can have confidential conversations with trained nurses who offer information and support about how to make positive lifestyle changes to reduce their risk of cancer and how to spot cancer early.

Peter said: “It’s brilliant to see all the great work that the Roadshow does to help people understand more about cancer. It’s such an awful disease, but if we get better at spotting it early then the chances of beating it are much better.

“I’m really proud of the Peter Andre Fund and all its wonderful supporters, including all my fantastic Champions. In the last year, nearly 30,000 people visited the London Roadshow to learn about cancer prevention and early detection. This wouldn’t have been possible without the immense support that the Fund has had.”

Ceri Eames, cancer awareness nurse manager for Cancer Research UK, said: “Every year, around 352,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK, but an estimated 4 out of 10 cases of cancer are preventable, largely through lifestyle changes. The Roadshow allows us to reach out to people as they go about their busy lives – we are literally on the road to beating cancer.”
